Archive of Sonic Arts in Africa (ASAA)

Currently in concept phase, ASAA is envisaged as an online archive of sound art and experimental music from the African continent, beginning with South Africa and eventually expanding to include the rest of the continent. African sound art and experimental music practitioners often work alone without community due to a lack of platforms and information about the field in its broader context, and are often forced to look outside Africa for examples and references. Collating years of work in this area, we see ASAA contributing to the growth of a localised Pan-African understanding of sound art and experimental music.
